Birkirkara St Joseph’s national triathlon champion Dermot Galea (photo) will be taking part this weekend in the Milton Keynes Triathlon which is a race on the calendar of the British Triathlon Association’s Grand Prix Circuit.
Over 500 triathletes are expected to start this Olympic distance event which includes a 1500m swim, a 40km cycle and a 10km run.
This year’s venue will be the Emberton Country Park in Milton Keynes.
The swim will be held in the park’s lake over a two lap course. The bike section is a 40km loop, while the run will be held around Emberton Park over a three lap course. Galea’s race is expected to start at 7am. UK time and he should be finishing the race in around 2 hours. The best time on this distance for the Birkirkara triathlete is 1 hour 55 minutes he clocked in Cyprus in 2002.
