Your news article about the President of Malta’s behaviour – as well as his henchmen who were ‘minding’ him – at the concert held at Manoel Island last week, reminded me of an incident I wish to share with all.

That same Saturday at around 8.45pm, my friend was driving me through a traffic-clogged Gzira Road just outside Kind’s Showroom. We all know the road – there is barely space for three cars abreast, yet all of a sudden, all these cars were forced to make way for yet another, a very large car, which later turned out to be the President’s. The two police motorcyclists escorting the President aggressively told all drivers to “make way for the President” and even threatened to book anyone in the way.

I bear witness to this behaviour.

Obviously, I won’t put here the appellatives of many of the drivers, following this incident. Suffice to say that a few cars were forced to mount the pavement because other cars were driving menacingly towards them.

Yes, indeed. I can vouch for the fact that the President was on time!
