Court: Probation For cash theft from supermarket

Malta Independent Tuesday, 25 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A 21-year-old from Rabat was placed on probation for one year yesterday after admitting having stolen about Lm1,000 in cash from Mollu Supermarket in Dingli.

Clint Borg pleaded guilty to the charges and the court, presided over by magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna, heard how he used to steal some Lm40 per day to finance his drug habit. The court also noted that Borg had repaid the money to the shop’s owners and that he had a clean record. It therefore decided to give him another chance and place him on probation for a year. Police inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted while Dr Patrick Valentino appeared for the defendant.
