I am British and married to a Maltese lady. I have been here now for 21 years. I have had experience of medical care at St Luke’s Hospital as has my wife. She is in there at present in M7 Ward.
Although there is over over-crowding and shortage of nurses, the medical care at St Luke’s is first class. The medical staff I have a great respect for and I do note that a great number are young people must be dedicated to carry out this work.
I feel sure it’s not for the money as the salary is low. In my opinion they should be the highest paid. If one looks at all the private hospitals, private doctors and all the pharmacies which make a good profit out of sick people. I feel they should be made to donate so much per annum to give the nurses in St Luke’s a better deal.
The Maltese should be grateful that they have a dedicated nursing staff. They do a first class job.
