Warrants For new notaries

Malta Independent Thursday, 27 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Thirteen notaries have been presented with their warrants by Deputy Prime Minister and Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg this week.

He said that the granting of a warrant brought with it both rights and obligations.

One of the biggest obligations is that a notary public has to act professionally and according to the law. Notaries are also expected to keep abreast of changes in the law that take place from time to time.

Dr Borg reminded the notaries that they are public officials and their work should be detailed and meticulous. A notary, he added, should always be independent and super partes.
