Finally, it has happened. Joseph Vella’s letter correctly highlighted the disgusting and sinful (in my opinion) practice of turning St John’s Co-Cathedral into a money-making machine by charging an entrance fee (TMIS, 23 July). Perhaps I should have written earlier but seeing that no one was complaining I thought perhaps I was the only one objecting.

So I ask our Archbishop, when does the House of God stop being a place of worship and become a money-making machine? I have been stopped in the past from entering the cathedral through the main door and asked to queue up with the tourists at the side entrance to buy a ticket.

Only recently, after adamantly insisting, was I allowed through the main door on condition that I go straight to the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, with these people at the door watching my every step.

Shame on you (whoever you are) for turning God’s house into a commercial enterprise.
