2X Extends Sirens ASC sponsorship by one year

Malta Independent Tuesday, 1 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Sirens ASC have announced that their sponsorship with local leading software company 2X has been extended for another year. This sponsorship has been instrumental in helping the current champions maintain their position at the top of Maltese waterpolo.

2X is a young dynamic Maltese owned software company with partners throughout the world. It is also an official partner of global software giant Microsoft.

Through this sponsorship, Sirens ASC has been able to engage top Hungarian player Tamas Marcz, who was a member of the all conquering Hungarian team that won the Olympic gold medal in Sydney 2000 and two European Championships in 1997 and 1999. Marcz, 32, was also instrumental in helping unfancied Savona to the Italian Serie A title in 2005 and was voted best foreign player in the Italian League that year.

The 2X sponsorship has also helped Sirens ASC in the development of its youth sector. For the past two years Sirens have employed a full time foreign coach for its youth teams.

Dejan Simeonov is a fully qualified coach who besides being totally responsible for the three Sirens youth teams, acts as assistant coach to John Farrugia in charge of physical preparation of the senior squad.
