Lorna Farrugia has been appointed as Call Centre manager for HSBC EU in Malta.

Ms Farrugia, currently HSBC Sliema Area Director, will be taking up her new appointment when the Centre, located in Swatar, opens in October. During the summer she will be undergoing a period of training and familiarisation at a counterpart HSBC Call Centre in Scotland.

The new Global Call Centre, which will employ between 300 and 350 employees by the end of this year, will be handling calls from HSBC’s high value customers in the United Kingdom. Prospective employees are currently being interviewed and training for new recruits will begin on 18 September.

“Lorna has a strong track record with HSBC Bank through her previous position as Sliema Area Director and as Branch Manager in Birkirkara and Sta Venera. She has extensive experience in operations management and I have every confidence that under Lorna’s leadership the Call Centre will run with great efficiency, offering excellent customer service,” said Shaun Wallis, chief executive officer of HSBC Bank Malta.

“I am delighted to accept this appointment which will offer, not only the challenge in managing a new call centre, but also be part of developing a team of freshly recruited employees.

“I am confident that with the support and commitment already being shown by my management team, we will manage to achieve and surpass expectations.” said Lorna Farrugia.
