A Syrian man was yesterday jailed for a month after he was found guilty of assaulting people with sharp instruments, including a nine-year-old girl.
Jihad Alloudami, 35, who lives in Gzira, had originally pleaded not guilty to charges of assaulting various people, including a man who was driving through Gzira on a motorcycle with his daughter riding pillion. However, he later changed his plea to guilty.
He also admitted assaulting a police constable and a sergeant with a knife on 3 July in Sliema Road. He was also found guilty of assaulting Raymond Caruana and his daughter as well as involvement in a separate, but similar incident concerning another victim, Stephen Micallef.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Antonio Mizzi, sentenced the man to one month’s imprisonment.
