I would like to thank the Civil Protection Department for the prompt and professional response to an emergency situation on Friday 28 July. Late in the morning, fields close to ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija caught fire following the illegal dumping of flammable material. With the prevailing windy conditions we were at risk that the fire would spread to our animal park, the consequences of which do not bear thinking about.

A few minutes after dialling 112 the first fire engine team was on the spot and, realising the extent of the fire, they immediately called for backup. Had it not been for the hard dedication of the civil protection team, our charitable organisation would have suffered severe consequences and for this we are truly grateful.

I would also like to condemn the continuous illegal dumping in the vicinity of our facilities and urge the authorities to make an effort and control this situation.
