Malta Independent Monday, 7 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The OGAE Song Contest is a competition held by the official Eurovision fan club circuit, spread in around 40 countries. The official title of this club is in French Organisation Generale des Amateurs de l'Eurovision, in short... OGAE.

All OGAE-clubs are asked to send in a song for this Eurovision-like contest. The rules state that the song must be no older than a year, and must be sung in a country's national language.

Members of Ogae Malta had until 30 July to cast their votes for the Maltese selection. 10 entries were nominated by the members themselves and these were voted upon. The Maltese selection for this year's OGAE Song Contest was played during Eurovision Radio on Tuesday 25 July and also during a Special Show by Fantasy Radio 104.1 on Thursday 27 July.

Chiara won the Maltese selection with her Sail Away. Glen finished as the first runner up with his upbeaty Say you'll be mine, while Ira Losco fetched the third place with her latest release, Accident Prone. Georgina finished fourth with Together Tonight.
