A group of Maltese youths from the Salesian Pastoral Youth Service (SPYS) joined over another 100 participants from nine European countries to take part in Eurizon 2006 during the last week of July.
Eurizon, which for 10 years was known as Eurotreff, has now entered its third year, and has become the annual gathering of youths coming from Salesian organizations across Europe.
This year's Eurizon was held in the Salesian Youth Centre of Mamateyova in Bratislava-Petrzalka district. The theme chosen by the organizers was 'Feel the Power of the sTeam', with the 'sTeam' representing the Salesian spirit in a team.
Eurizon 2006 was held under the patronage of Jan Figel, Member of the European Commission responsible for Education, Training, Culture and Multilingualism who was also present for the opening ceremony.
The days spent at Eurizon were characterized by morning prayers followed by various interactive, artistic, crafts and sports workshops, cultural visits, outdoor activities as well as small group discussions, targeted towards both animators and young people. Participants had the opportunity to choose what activities and workshops to take part in.
