The National Council of Women (NCW) agrees with the euro dual display of prices guidelines published recently for consultation and which come into effect next year.
The council said it hoped that the commercial sector would voluntarily introduce the dual pricing system from January 2007 before the mandatory dual pricing period comes into effect from July 2007.
The council said an early introduction of the system would help consumers familiarise themselves with the euro and with the exchange rate of e1 is equal to Lm0.4293.
NCW said this system ensured a smooth transition process while curbing any increase in prices solely a result of the transition. The council said that it will be vigilant against unjustified price changes during the changeover period.
