“Peace and friendship through music and arts” is the motto of the Golden Cross International Singing festival – an annual cultural event held in Malta to promote local talent internationally.
The third edition of this festival was held between 25 and 28 July at La Grotta Complex in Gozo.
Three young talented singers, Gabriella, Christian and Alexia, presented the festival, which proved to be even more spectacular that the previous two editions. The festival organisers rounded up an impressive list of guest performers for the opening show, while the audience surrounded a stage equipped with state of the art light- and sound-systems.
The countries represented in this year’s edition were England, Bulgaria, Malta, Italy, Romania, Ukraine, Lithuania, Libya, Serbia and Belarus, with a total participation of 50 singers. The festival was of a high standard, and the competition was intense.
The main contest was won by Enrico Giacco from Italy with the song Avevamo Bisogno D’Amore, written and composed by Giovanni Baiardi. The She2’s and Fabrizio Faniello were special guests during the festival.
This festival was supported by the Malta Tourism Authority and La Grotta. More information on the Golden Cross International Singing Festival may be obtained from www.festivalgoldencross.com.
