Last month a “doctor” from Spain was invited by a local liberal movement to give a talk on abortion in Malta. This person effectively promoted abortion “tours” to Spain for Maltese citizens. Though abortion in our country is illegal, it seems that the authorities have kept a low profile on the issue and almost completely ignored the fact.

In December 2005, an EU advisory panel issued a statement saying that medical professionals are not allowed to refuse to participate in an abortion, but this was, suspiciously, not even mentioned by politicians in Malta. Is the government bowing to pressure exerted by the liberals of Brussels? According to these liberals it is for the mother “a fundamental human right” to be able to have an abortion, but one can also ask, is there not the fundamental right of the unborn child to live?

The “doctor”, or perhaps we should call him the butcher, referred to us Maltese as “a cloistered people”. However, I think it is better to be a “cloistered people” with strong values rather than being in favour of abortion and thus abetting murder.

How can the Maltese government tolerate such foreigners who come to Malta to sell death? Is this the same government that enacted hate-speech laws? Hate-speech laws are highly subjective and thus can be abused (as we have already seen). Is it morally or logically correct to arrest people for allegedly engaging in racial “hate” speech while allowing others to give lectures in which they systematically promote the murder of unborn children?

We are living in a disgrace of a society where liberals are free to promote their agenda, which entails the destruction of life and fundamental values while traditional, nationalist and Christian people are persecuted for their ideology. Isn’t this hypocrisy at its worst?
