Young artist Vince Caruana has just obtained an MA in visual arts from the Libera Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, one of the most distinguished art institutions in Europe.
At the academy he was classically trained in painting, sculpture, installation, environmental art, photography, and video. Mr Caruana was awarded Il Migliore Allievo dell’Anno 2005-2006 in recognition to his unflinching dedication to his studies.
During his studies in Florence, Mr Caruana had the opportunity to participate in various exhibitions among which are the Loggia del Grano of the Uffizi Centre and the Quarter. He has also gained the experience of museology at The Peggy Guggenheim in Venice and at Il Museo Leonardesco di Vinci, in Leonardo’s hometown.
Mr Caruana has always been exposed to the arts, as he is the nephew of the artist Anton Caruana. He studied at the School of Arts in Malta where he received tuition from various established local artists including Luciano Micallef and Anton Calleja and has further enhanced his education at Scranton College of Arts Pennsylvania, USA. Presently he is an art teacher at the Gozo School of Arts.
Mr Caruana has mounted three solo exhibitions and has participated in several collective exhibitions including the Malta Biennale, Madiera International Arte Bienal (Portugal), Tempra Academy (Connecticut, USA), and the Akademie Klausenhof of Hamminken (Germany)
