The Institute of Physical Education and Sports of the University of Malta, in conjunction with the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta (ASA) and the Kunsill Malti ghall-Isport (KMS), is organising a foundation course in coaching.

The course will start in October 2006 and will end in January 2007.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Italian Swimming Federation, the Aquatic Sports Association will be inviting Italian instructors to conduct coaching courses on the technical part of both Waterpolo and Swimming. Those persons who conclude the course successfully will be given a coaching licence in swimming or in waterpolo respectively by the ASA.

The ASA council has resolved that as from the coming season, any person wishing to coach the game of waterpolo (all categories) or swimming must have such licence issued by the ASA or else such person will not be allowed to assist the team during competitions organised by the association.

Persons interested in applying for such course can do so at the Institute for Sport and Physical Education (National Swimming Pool Complex – back entrance) by 18 August, and inform the association regarding their application.

The fee to apply for such course is Lm50: however, it is the intention of the ASA to support those interested and proceed with the technical part on swimming and waterpolo. Any registration after this date will entail a late registration fee.
