Following the British Airways tournament three cadet wrestlers – Adam Vella, Matthew Bonnici and Aidan Buhagiar led by Malta Amateur Wrestling Federation Youth Director Abraham Vassallo travelled to Glasgow, Scotland, where they took part in the Commonwealth Wrestling Youth Championships.

After taking part in this first ever youth championships for Commonwealth countries, the three Maltese youths took part in the Scottish International Open. In between these two events they also participated in a training camp along with other Commonwealth competitors.

Nothing special was expected from our three youths except gaining the much need international experience.

For the record Aidan Buhagiar managed to beat an opponent from Scotland in the Commonwealth championships.

The team representing South Africa was totally superior to the other teams – they won most of the categories.
