Dear Daphne,

I refer to your article entitled “Cross about George” (TMIS, 13 August). While you ranted and raved about poor English, which I do believe was your oh-so-subtle way of gilding the lily, so to speak, I myself humbly note that I found a mistake in your article. I think this warrants the use of an exclamation mark, so here it is, and I quote:

“...you would expect a woman of 25 and a grown man of unspecified age to be able to able to argue clearly...”

Ah, the sweet irony. Exclamation mark! So, has the Daphne of the ever-immaculate English grammar finally come a cropper? Oh dear! Don’t throw stones, sweetheart, while you reside in your Bidnija glass house.
