PN Councillors welcome road-surfacing programme

Malta Independent Saturday, 26 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Nationalist Party’s Councillors College (KKPN) said it welcomed the government’s plans to tarmac more than 400 residential roads over the next two years.

The councillors said the government was tackling the

matter in a serious manner and the road-building programme was producing results.

Earlier this month, the government announced an Lm8 million project to tarmac 400 roads that had never been

surfaced before. The first phase of the plan, costing Lm2.6 million, will start in the coming months.

The KKPN said that the government had drawn up a list of roads, following consultation with local councils. It added that the government was working hand in hand with the councils to enhance the standard of living of residents.
