Tell us something about yourself?
Well, I have always been intrigued by the world of entertainment, and as I grew up my interest fell on television. In fact I was so determined to be part of this world that exactly a year ago I walked into an interview feigning to be an aspiring participant of a Reality show in Malta, but in reality (excuse the pun) what I really wanted was a chance to meet the producers to let them know that I was willing and ready to be a part of the project. And that is how my career kicked off…. And I take this opportunity to thank Abigail, Rachel and Pierre Portelli for believing in me.
As for my character I am a Perfectionist which sometimes makes me somewhat Paranoid in my quest to be one. I am Hyper so, never a dull moment and Curious which makes me all the more willing to learn.
And Passju?
Our intention is to give the public a short programme – just half an hour – with a difference: we will be telling the stories of real people who never imagined where this amazing journey called ‘life’ would be taking them. It is also about creating a programme which has style, content and is fast moving. We shall be delving inside the lives of well-known personalities in order to bring out what is behind the face of each; what thoughts run through their heads when they are alone; what experiences they have been through and what their everyday life is like. What makes them tick in short.
How do you propose to achieve this?
First of all we will be following the selected personalities around with cameras, observing them in their ‘natural habitat’. Moreover, they will go through an interview during which they will be faced with direct, incisive questions about their personal philosophy of life, their religious beliefs, prejudices, faults, virtues and so on.
And I must tell you that the most important prop on our set is going to be Pedro.
And who or what is Pedro?
Pedro is our orange armchair, on which the personality will sit. It has a character of its own.
Who is going to be doing the interview?
The camera, and the televiewers themselves are asking the questions because the programme’s aim is to try and ask the questions which everyone at one point would have liked to ask them. This will lead us to complete the puzzle and help us understand how and why these people became personas.
Why is your programme named Passju?
The game of passju says quite a few things about life.
Well, the slogan of the programme is Il-hajja bhal passju…titfa’ gebla u ma tafx fejn ser tasal. Translated into English: Life is like a game of hopscotch…once you throw a stone where will it land? In everyone’s life decisions are taken and several paths are open to us but do we ever know if we are on the right track?
Who is working on this programme beside yourself?
Passju is the brainchild of Rachel and Abigail, two people who have taught me a lot and who are guiding and helping me in this project. Carlos and Evelyn, the other directors are also the two other significant people on the team. Furthermore, recently, new people have joined this ever growing circle. Three of them are Justin, Adrian and Matthew, who are all proving to be vital in making this programme the success it deserves to be. We are currently meeting with our prospective guests and working round the clock to make certain that Passju will be one of the most popular television programmes on PBS this coming winter.
Passju will be transmitted on PBS in October,
every Monday at 6pm.
