Last Friday, Mermaid Media Entertainment announced the nominees for the Malta Television Award to a sizeable crowd of television personalities, producers and independent companies.
Charles Saliba, who presented the ‘Nominations Night held at The Halland Hotel, Ibrag, will also present The Malta Television Awards to be held on Saturday, 16 September at the Meditterranean Conference Centre. A total of 122 nominees were announced in 34 different categories.
Noelene Miggiani, spokesperson for Mermaid Media Entertainment also announced that the ‘People’s Chioice’ Award, the only category where televiewers can vote for their favourite TV personality.
The People’s Choice Award starts this week with special television spots on TVM, Super ONE and NET TV. The public can vote for their favourite TV personality by sending an SMS with the name of their preferred personality on 50614198 for Net TV personalities, 50614199 for TVM personalities and 50614200 for Super 1 personalities.
The Best Television Station Award will be won by the television station that has the most award winners on the night.
The prestigious ‘Charles Arrigo Lifetime Achievment Award’ was a definite favourite with the crowd present but the night definitely belonged to Solitaire, which obtained the most nominations with an impressive 12 nominations that include Best Director, Best Original Script and Best Drama.
Net TV’s Santa Monika received 10 nominations among which are Best Director, Best Drama, Best Opening Sequence and Best Original Script.
26th Frame’s Il-Lejl it-Tajjeb received four nominations for Best Opening Sequence, Best Editing, Best Director and Best Documentary.
