Social Housing

Malta Independent Monday, 28 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

I refer to the article entitled Labour government to tackle social housing (TMID, 7 August).

I would like to bring to your attention that the Housing Authority did not feel the need to build units in Ghasri since there was not sufficient demand for social housing in this locality.

The Housing Authority decided to sell these plots and utilise the funds from such sale for other projects of social housing in Gozo where there is a higher demand.

The profit from the sale of these plots will be ring-fenced for the various projects of the Housing Authority including the construction of more housing units to be allocated to applicants on the waiting list of the Department of Social Housing.
