Taken Advantage of

Malta Independent Friday, 1 September 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

My wife and I are well into our 80s and I think elderly people are taken advantage of. I give you our case as an example.

We had a Telecare phone installed on the advice of my wife’s doctor as she has a heart problem. Since then I have noted that we are being charged by Maltacom for two rentals: one of Lm5.13 and one of Lm2.16. So why the Lm2.16?

It’s only a phone and as far as I can see it does nothing extra. And they don’t tell you about the extra charge when it’s installed either. It seems a little underhand to me. Last year we had no line for nine days, yet we were still charged for this period.
