Please refer to your report of my media release on Government R & D spending (TMID, 4 September).

I would like to point out that in our media release – as carried on the MLP website – I did not single out any persons by name and I have thus at no stage mentioned Paul Attard as implied by the coverage of your report.

I was merely quoting the MITTS CEO and head of the Malta Council for Science & Technology who according to the Business To-day which carried his interview, claimed that both roles are filled by Mr D Spiteri Gingell. While your report stated that I was referring to two government spokespersons, from perusal of my statement one can easily deduct that I was mentioning one person all along since all quotes lifted from the interview are made in the singular.
