I refer to Frank Psaila’s article ‘Opinion’ in (TMIS, 27 August), regarding Birzebbuga, Birzebbuga local council would like to state that since its inception, Birzebbuga local council has always been aware how important it is to keep Birzebbuga’s environment clean.

When discussing this matter during the meetings held between the police and Birzebbuga local council, emphasis is always made that urgent action is taken against these irresponsible people.

The Birzebbuga local council can assure Mr Psaila that it is indeed awake and has been in this state for a considerable length of time.

To confirm this a person only has to listen to the many comments made by the thousands of people who visit Birzebbuga and remark how much it has improved, bearing in mind that these improvements were made during a Labour government and when the local council had, and still has, a Labour majority.
