Over the past weeks, I have followed with interest the various reports and statements concerning the resignation of section secretaries from their post at the General Workers Union, and the sacking of Josephine Attard Sultana as Public Sector Section secretary. It seems that the media, whose objective is to undermine the GWU, is misleading the public.
Why has nobody from the media asked Ms Attard Sultana why she didn’t want to face the delegates of the Public Sector section? More than 40 per cent of the delegates had signed the petition for an extraordinary general meeting to discuss the vote of no confidence and her performance as section secretary in a democratic way. Why did she take the union to court without the approval of the executive committee of the section?
It is time that the public gets to know the facts.
