The Housing Authority’s Functions

Malta Independent Thursday, 14 September 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

With reference to the article, Government acting as a private developer – Labour MPs (TMID, 2 September), the Housing Authority would like to clarify some statements made, as it appears the work of the Housing Authority may not be fully understood.

The Housing Authority does not work for any entity or political party. The Housing Authority is established by law and its functions and policies are to serve the public at large under the Housing Authority Act (1976).

Our priorities are repairing and using up existing stock, helping families access home ownership through shared ownership, making homes accessible to all the urban renewal.

None of the above is of any interest to a private developer.
