Fabergé Launches the much longed-for ‘Matrjoschka’ collection

Inside every woman there is a girl – and no-one else epitomises this truth so completely as the Russian Matrjoschka. This figure has lost none of its appeal to this day. It is the symbol of the eternal feminine and embodies the secret of reproduction. A Matrjoschka’s ability to transform itself is almost inexhaustible. As a

fictional character it has inspired the imagination of countless painters.

This limewood figure with its rich inner life originally comes from Japan and only reached Russia towards the end of the 19th century. It then became world-famous as the Matrjoschka, or Russian doll.

Now, Fabergé has built another monument to the “Russian national figure” by creating a Matrjoschka collection.

It is hard to imagine a finer way of enhancing the status of the Matrjoschka legend: these delightful figures will remind the wearers of their girlhood. What more precious gift could Fabergé give to women!

In contrast to their limewood sisters, Fabergé’s Matrjoschkas are made of pure gold. All the colours are fire enamelled.

The collection comprises bracelets, necklaces and a sumptuous pendant.

The figures are perfect examples of a skill that has made Fabergé famous. Some of the models even have a smaller figure inside, just like their wooden predecessors.

Rejuvenation, the desire to keep changing and reinventing oneself – the new Fabergé collection encapsulates feminine themes like almost no other.

Incidentally, the Russian style is currently enjoying a brilliant fashion comeback – a fresh wind from the east is wafting the stuff of dreams our way: folklore prints for a romantic style of dressing. Add a whiff of Mongolian glamour for the Siberian princess look.

Fabergé took his inspiration from the colourfulness and authenticity of Russian folklore and – with a little twinkle in his eye – has produced his Matrjoschkas in the bright colours that have always been so popular.

However, only a small number of women worldwide can consider themselves fortunate to have a Matrjoschka of their own: this is a strictly limited collection.
