We have lately been hearing extensively the new Nationalist government’s hype phrase of “smart”.

It is good for a country and a party in government to try to be smart, but when one is over the edge, there is nothing that one can do except accept the fact of a freefall!

To be smart one has to think and plan ahead, not come to the stage where there is no way back.

For the government not to have arrived to this stage it should have applied the word “smart” in the following acronym:

S – oul searching on a continuous basis;

M – ake Malta a better place to live in;

A – ccept the fact that its time is up;

R – eact to constructive criticism;

T – ake tourism to task.
