No Permission needed

Malta Independent Sunday, 24 September 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

I refer to your editorial of 10 September. I quote its first paragraph: “So the government had to be dragged in, feet first, to do what it should have done ages ago – permit low cost airlines to come to Malta.”

The author of this editorial is either an incompetent person or a liar. Any EU registered airline could fly into Malta without the need for any permission since 1 May 2004.

The falsity of the claim that EasyJet and Ryanair, or any other low cost or high cost EU registered airline requires government permission to fly into Malta is evidence of the nature of the debate that we have had about this issue.
