Playing their first match in the Intermediate Round of the 5th UEFA Regions Cup against the German amateur regional champions Sachsoscher FV, Malta's amateur XI suffered a heavy 11-0 defeat.

The Germans led 3-0 at the interval.

The Malta amateur team's next commitment will be against Poland's top regional team Dolnozlalski tomorrow.

On Friday, they are due to come up against the Italian champions representing the Toscana region in what will be the final match of a very tough qualifying group.
