The Malta Table Tennis Association opened its activities this season by organising the first seniors ranking tournament at the University Sports Hall.

Mario Genovese made a great comeback in this tournament when, in the final, he beat emerging player Claudio Tufigno by 4-0 full score 11:7, 15:13, 14:12, 11:8.

The final was a very balanced match with the much improved Claudio Tufigno unlucky to lose two deuce games. However Mario’s experience was evident especially in crucial points and fully deserved the title considering that during the tournament he also beat two strong contenders in Malta champion Edward Baldacchino and national player Alex Soler.

In the plate event young Gary Magri Gatt beat the veteran player Frans Scerri by 6:11, 12:10, 12:14, 16:14 .
