The Malta Tourism Authority has launched the first training programme for small businesses as part of the Tourism and Support Services Training Programme partly funded by the EU’s European Social Fund. The MTA’s Industry HR Development Unit is responsible for developing the human resources for the tourism industry.
These training programmes, which are free, are to be provided by MISCO and Optimum Results in collaboration with MTA, and are mainly aimed at establishments in the hospitality industry such as small hotels, restaurants and other catering establishments.
The programme is designed with busy people in mind, and focuses mainly on Small Business Owners, Managers and Senior Staff Members. This first programme in Management starts on 9 October and runs until March.
There are five seminars with MISCO and Optimum Results trainers and six one-to-one training and coaching sessions with the programme business advisers. These sessions were designed to help participants to create a working development plan in accordance with their business objectives. At the end of the programme the participants will have a concrete strategic marketing plan designed on their specific needs.
The Institute of Leadership and Management will award a Certificate in Management to each individual participant who completes and presents a strategic, company- specific marketing plan of an appropriate standard.
This is a practical, hands-on programme, focusing specifically and designed for small businesses to help them implement high quality and effective development plans to grow their company. It is aimed at improving the service across small hospitality and catering sectors of the tourism industry and to train individuals and stakeholders who do not usually have the opportunity of attending training programmes. Through this programme owners/managers will gain a better understanding of the full potential of their business.
