Air Malta Employees donate blood

Malta Independent Thursday, 5 October 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

Several members of staff of Air Malta have this week donated blood at the Mobile Blood Donation Unit which, for this occasion, visited the airline’s Head Office in Luqa. This event is being organised every four months by the airline’s staff and management in collaboration with the Blood Transfusion Department.

A spokesperson for the airline said, “We are very happy with the positive response we have received from our employees. This is the fourth time we are organising this activity and our staff are eagerly contributing to this initiative. Donating blood can make the difference; with a single act of generosity people can not only help a person but in some cases can save a person’s life. The strong turnout shows that many of our employees have a very strong social conscience” the spokesperson added.

Through its intranet, Air Malta has encouraged its staff to actively participate in this activity and donate blood as a concrete expression of solidarity towards the community. This activity forms part of Air Malta’s, ‘Committed to Our Community’ initiative that aims to support and encourage local organisations and activities in various sectors be they cultural, social, philanthropic, environmental, heritage and sport, that help the Maltese Community in some way or another.
