Court: Teenager Placed on probation

A teenager has been placed on probation for 18 months after admitting to his involvement in the theft of several items in two snatch-and-grab cases.

The 16-year-old boy from Floriana, who is also a relapser, was in the company of another two people when he committed the thefts which took place at 2.20pm on 26 August in Valletta. He pleaded guilty to the theft of several items including a camera to the detriment of a German tourist and the theft of a handbag to the detriment of an elderly Maltese woman.

Magistrate Anthony Vella placed the teenager on probation for a period of 18 months, giving him another chance to change his way of life.

Police Inspector Michael Mallia prosecuted while Dr Franco Debono appeared for the teenager.
