Maltese athletes yesterday won three more medals in bowling and bocci.

Amanda Baker and Joanna Vassallo won a bronze medal in the bocci doubles event, despite having had an uncertain start.

In the bowling field, Ritienne Pullicino, who is blind, surprised everyone, winning the gold medal to the satisfaction of all those present at the Brunswick Centre. Here, Maria Spiteri also did well to win the silver medal, missing the gold herself by only two pins.

Today, the Maltese will be taking part in the athletics events, but in the evening, all the contingent will be taking part in the Closing Ceremony being held indoors at the Centro Sportivo Stella Azzurra, a venue for basketball, because rain is forecast for today, as was the case yesterday.

Earlier in the Games, the Maltese had won three golds, four silvers and a bronze medal.

A forum for youths (13-17 years) was also held with the participation of around 200 youngsters from around 55 countries. Also taking part were students from Rome and the Lazio region, athletes from Special Olympics and other personalities from the Italian show business field. In another forum, families discussed different opinions, thoughts, problems and experiences.
