A 31-year-old Libyan irregular immigrant was jailed for 14 months yesterday after he pleaded guilty to causing damage amounting to around Lm170 at the Ta’ Kandja detention centre on Monday.

Before Magistrate Denis Montebello, Ali Abdullah Mizughi Midad also pleaded guilty to breaching the peace and relapsing. Police Inspector Edel Mary Camilleri prosecuted. Dr Beppe Fenech Adami appeared for the defence.
