The focus on breastfeeding (TMID, 6 October) should be made available to all mothers at St Luke’s Hospital (and other hospitals, for that matter) because it gave all the information that is needed for them.
I think that all mothers should be helped to overcome the difficult start every mother experiences when it comes to breastfeeding, because the exercise is beneficial to both the mother and the baby.
Mothers should be encouraged to continue trying even if they initially find it hard. They should get all the support from their partner, family and medical staff, and should not be ashamed of breastfeeding in public.
It may be difficult the first time, but they will get used to it.
