Your leader, The purple party (TMID, 10 October) hit the nail on the head.

I consider myself as being one of the purple voters, as you rightly call those people who think before committing themselves and do not believe all that is said.

And, like you, I do believe that this “purple party” is growing every day.

People have become fed up with the way in which the two major political parties deal with any given situation.

Governments which admit their mistakes are more likely to be given a second chance. And opposition parties which praise governments when they do something right gain in credibility when they later criticise.

But unfortunately, this does not happen here. PN speakers give the impression that everything is fine and that Malta cannot be doing better. On the other hand, MLP spokesmen want to lead us into thinking that we are a third world country.

People have become more educated and more mature to be able to sift what they are being told and are able to make a distinction between lies, half-truths and truths. Politicians should wake up to this call because they will pay the price for thinking that the people are still too ignorant to question what they are saying.

Yes, I do believe that the purple party in Malta is growing. What I also believe is that most of the purple party followers will turn their back to both the Nationalist Party and the Malta Labour Party – and keep their voting document locked in their study.
