It is understandable for Mr Lionel Coates (Concert cancellation, TMID, 9 October) to feel disappointed at the last minute cancellation of an open-air concert due to something as insignificant as light rain.
I fully empathise with him whenever my train is cancelled due to the “wrong kind of leaves” here in the UK.
What I cannot certainly share is his conviction of the Maltese authority’s duty to provide him with a radio and TV station in English.
One thing that I have learnt through living in various European countries is that integrating within a hosting community is the immigrant’s duty and not that of the community. It is amazing how benefiting a few local words can be.
I wish Mr Coates the best of luck in Malta.
