From Mr J. Portelli

I wish to submit a number of proposals for inclusion in the government’s vision for Gozo.

Why not double the existing airstrip of the heliport by taking over what is now a dumping ground, so that fixed winged small aeroplanes can land? It would be much cheaper, would help tourism to Gozo and surely be no threat of becoming an airstrip for jet planes!

Why not rehabilitate the racetrack at Xhajma? A blot on Gozo’s landscape: Rich farm land turned into waste land. Why not turn it back to what it was before? Surely it was the sin of one trying to keep his seat in Parliament in 1998. He lost his seat but lol! got in in another way.

Why not pull down the boundary wall of a villa overlooking Dahlet Qorrot owned by an MP? It is sitting on otherwise pristine garigue environment. It is much better than being in favour of the ruining of another beach, Hondoq ir-Rummien. It would send a clear message to would-be powerful abusers. Better than flexing your muscles with the weak!

Why not reform public transport in Gozo? It is virtually non-existent. Maybe it would be feasible if one introduces minibuses for certain trips. It would also reduce the need for parking spaces, the traffic on our roads and pollution.

Joe Portelli
