MEPA should rethink its priorities. It seems to be bending rules where it should be taking, or should have taken, a firm stance.

For example, its Okaying the Hondoq project and the knocking down of one of Victoria’s landmarks – the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel – to replace it with some eight-storey eyesore! The Arcadia mall that juts out instead of being aligned with the other buildings, a satellite antenna that emits microwaves on top of the mall that is a health hazard.

Yet the archpriest of Victoria’s cathedral is constantly denied a permit to open up a road to ease the traffic flow. At present, this one, narrow road is open to two-way traffic that often creates infuriating traffic problems, which no doubt seriously affect the beauty and serenity of this Gozitan icon!

Is there an explanation? I’d like to know.
