In perfect weather another 105 tennis matches were played yesterday from the Tennis Tournament which is being held in Malta as part of the Annual congress of the World Medical Tennis Society. After four days of play already 400 matches were concluded due mainly to the professional work being done by Tournament Referee Oswald Tanti and the fixtures officer Mario Cutajar.

An event which is attracting a lot of interest is the Nations Cup referred to as the Tumas Fenech Trophy in which Malta lost a very close encounter against the US ton Tuesday.

On yesterday’s programme were the quarter- finals of this event and the US continued to impress with another win against Poland. Thus today’s semi- finals are between U.S.A. and Germany who eliminated Finland, and Slovakia against Latvia, winners respectively against Japan and Indonesia.

Other interesting matches scheduled for today are the finals of the Ladies Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Men Singles. Matches which are being played at the Marsa Sports Club,Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club, and Kordin Tennis Club start at 8.30am on all courts
