You reported (TMID, 17 October) that it was estimated that 100,000 people visited Valletta last Saturday to attend Notte Bianca activities.

I believe that the number could have been greater if there was better planning, particularly from the transport point of view.

While driving towards Valletta at about 9.30pm – well, it took me nearly two hours to drive from San Gwann to Floriana – I saw many cars turning back at the roundabout at Msida and the one at Sa Maison.

The drivers and their passengers had either given up and headed back home, or else they tried different routes which, I understand, were also jam-packed with traffic.

It would have perhaps been better to organise a better public transport system during the night. Although many buses were utilised to meet with demand, apparently these were not enough as many people who chose to take a bus to Valletta were stranded on bus stops for a long time. Many opted to return home when all the buses were passing by full-up.

On the whole, it was a lovely evening, but I think that next time it could get better with a more organised plan.
