Sliema Wanderers will this evening try to stop league leaders Marsaxlokk’s impressive run. The league leaders are in fact in search of their seventh consecutive victory, a victory that will assure them of their leadership.

And with close followers Msida SJ and Hibernians crossing swords this weekend, a victory for Brian Talbot’s side could be of utmost importance. For the Wanderers it is not going to be an easy task this evening. Their showings left much to be desired so far, and their last display against Valletta was no exception to the rule.

Sliema suffered an early goal against the Citizens and never recovered. Their chief striker Ivan Woods is carrying all the burden in attack and the consequences are tragic for Sliema when Woods fails to score.

Marsaxlokk are fresh from their top of the table win against Hibernians in their last outing.

It was thanks to a Doda late strike that the South seasiders made it six in a row.

After their defeat in their opener against Champions Birkirkara, Marsaxlokk have made great strides forward and seem to have found the right cocktail to make it a memorable season.

Marsaxlokk will surely start as hot favourites to grab another three precious points this evening, but Sliema’s pride can be a menace for the leaders.

The match kicks off at 8pm.
