Individuals and institutions who have made a significant contribution to Gozo, or have honoured the island through their achievements, will in turn be given due recognition through Circolo Gozitano’s Gieh Ghawdex awards. These awards, introduced last year to honour achievements by persons or groups, are being supported by HSBC Bank Malta plc.

Three people or institutions will be chosen by an independent adjudicating board appointed by the committee of the Circolo Gozitano, following nominations by the public.

“Gieh Ghawdex is an excellent initiative that contributes towards promoting and safeguarding Gozo’s identity through recognition of accomplishment,” said HSBC Bank Malta plc Gozo area director Stephen Pandolfino. “For this reason, HSBC is supporting this initiative, that is important to the life of the Island.”

The award ceremony will be held during a gala dinner on Gozo Day, celebrated by the Circolo on 28 October. On this day, among other activities, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place in the morning at the monument of Gozitan Francesco Saverio Cassar in Independence Square, Victoria.
