Tetley, which first began trading tea in 1837, is one of the oldest brands in the UK, and has held the position of market leader for decades. It succeeded in achieving and maintaining this position mainly through its innovative spirit, with introductions as spectacular as the tea bag in 1953, the round tea bag in 1989 and most recently, the drawstring system in 1995.
For almost 170 years, Tetley has delivered products that have a strong appeal, are functional and convenient, and include a range of different tastes and types of tea to satisfy the preferences of consumers. Tetley selects the best teas from across 10,000 different tea estates in over 35 countries, and the unique tea tasting methods used ensures that it delivers the best tea blend available, with the most delicate aroma.
The Tetley brand features a large variety of products, including the around the clock/UK Blend, English Breakfast tea, Ceylon tea, Earl Grey tea, black, flavoured teas, herbal teas, green teas, rooibos tea and white tea.
Tetley tea bags are now available in packets of 160 and 240. The distinctive and no-drip drawstring tea bags, which were invented by Tetley to satisfy the requirement for convenience and efficiency, are also available in packets of 80, and now include a range of tastes, including green tea.
Tetley teas are imported and distributed in Malta by Charles Darmanin Ltd.
Tetley is one of the leaders in the hot beverage market, and purchases more than 60 million kilos of tea a year from 20 different countries. Records also show that more than 36 million cups of Tetley tea are drunk each day in the UK.
