Pushing Power fitness classes have recently been held at the Eden Arena, as a trial to test mums’ participation and reactions. All the mothers who attended had positive comments describing the classes as ‘excellent’ and ‘perfect’ and asking for regular slots.

As a result Cynergi have decided to launch the first ever, 10-week fitness course for mums and their children, in Malta. The course begins on Monday 6th November and continues for 10 weeks (making exceptions for the Christmas festivities).

Cost for the whole course is Lm25- while single classes can be taken at the cost of Lm 3.25.

Pushing Power is designed to help mums regain their shape and correct their posture, which can suffer from carrying the child throughout pregnancy and in the first months of its life. Other benefits are weight loss and the regaining of self-confidence.

The class involves a variety of body conditioning exercises to gently help tone problem areas, coupled with a cardio vascular section to help improve stamina and burn those extra calories which may have piled on due to inactivity. Besides, Pushing Power is an opportunity for socializing and making friends. All this, without losing sight of the babies, who remain in tow in their buggies.

Martin Azzopardi and Gillian Grech, Cynergi’s fitness instructors, have prepared a well thought program which the mums follow while holding on to their buggies with their kids inside. Each instructor follows his style, which gives variety to the classes and makes them more enjoyable. Mums work hard whilst the kids watch, absolutely mesmerized, enjoying being whirred about in their buggies. The music is loud enough to encourage movement but not too loud so as not to disturb some of the babies, who, lulled by the movement, fall asleep.
