Every time I read an editorial in your newspaper I get the impression that I am missing something.
I cannot understand how a respected editor can come out with a leader like the one dated 22 October. It is common knowledge that when a general election looms our (sic) independent media sharpens its nails on who ever attacks a PN government.
As I do not belong to any of the three political parties, I have a better understanding and can analyse objectively what is being said and done.
Let me give you a small example. My wife and I send a joint declaration to the Tax office.
Now, with the new revised tax bands I should be better off by about Lm3.25 a week plus another Lm1.75 a week for cost of living adjustments, which therefore makes me Lm20 richer a month. One might say ah not bad, but when two days after the Budget Speech I received my electricity bill I got a shock – Lm169 for two months. Now where do you think that extra Lm20 will go? Who can say that at last we are turning the corner? Tell that to the thousands of families who have children, and ask those young couples trying to build a future together.
